    The eighth grade studentsgraders are starting their clay unit. They will first review the hand building
    techniques, and then be making Animal Creature Jars. For this project, they must successfully
    create
    working on a jar with3 Panel Painting, which is sometimes called a lid that fits. The jar alsoTriptych.
    The painting
    must includebe a creature in some way. It could be
    attached to the jar, it could be the handle
    series of the jar,three related things, or even be the jar itself. After the claya picture that is
    dry, I
    split into three parts.
    They
    will be firing themdrawing first in the kilnpencil, then carefully painting their series, one panel at 1890 degrees Fahrenheit. The jars will then be glazed,
    which is
    a special paint for pottery that is made up of silica glass. This is a shiny protective
    coat that will seal and protect the pottery.
